You know that amazing thing about ants – that they apparently never run into each other? They have some sort of 6th sense or something and they always keep out of the way of each other. Don’t ask me for the technical terms, clearly I don’t know them.
Anyway, about these ants. If you think about it, people have this skill in a way too. You know, you can kind of naturally pre-judge which direction people will go etc… without asking them.
I think that in Japan, I’m a different kind of ant. I bump into people all the time here; it’s insane. Spacial orientation doesn’t exist. Even with eye contact it’s like dancing with a room of people just to cross an intersection.
Today it was rainy – this whole walking thing without spacial awareness capabilities is practically an adventure sport when you add in umbrellas.

Wow! Finally made it through your VN stories and pics. The words and pics made it quite real for those of us voyaging electronically with you. Your ant story reminded me of when we were in Belize (staying in a place that was quite hammock and open air) and we watched what seemed to be an endless procession of leaf cutter ants cutting geometric shapes from the foliage and then carting their loads (much larger than they) to heaven knows where. This went on nonstop the entire time we were there. Terry is on his epic swing through several cities/states and when he returns we will “lunch” so I can hear of his adventures. Am missing Miss Phyl particularly right now as we shared April BD’s and mine has just passed, hers would be soon, and we always met for lunch inbetween those two dates. It is snowing here and we are welcoming yet another heavy, wet snowfall this month. We hope it helps damp down the fire danger. Hope you had a great time with Luke’s P’s and I know they enjoyed seeing that part of the world through your enthusiastic eyes. And, yes, the little pink outfitted rain girl is precious. Love to you both, Charlotte
